Cimbri

The Cimbri were a Germanic tribe which originated in Jutland. Together with the Teutones and Ambrones, they fought the Roman Republic between 113 and 101 BC, and they defeated a large Roman army at the Battle of Arausio before raiding large areas of Gaul and Hispania. In 101 BC, the Roman general Marius defeated them at the Battle of Vercellae, slaying their king Boiorix. The survivors were forced into servitude as gladiators, and they took part in the Third Servile War.
