Church of God in Jamaica

The Church of God in Jamaica is a Protestant Christian church (affiliated with the international Church of God) and the largest religious denomination in Jamaica, with 24% of the island attending Church of God services in 111 congregations in six regions. It was founded on 30 July 1907 when the 24-year-old George Olson arrived in Kingston to preach. Its first street meeting was held on 1 August 1907, and there was no missionary board until 1911 and no regular support until 1919. By the 1980s, it came to be the largest church in the country. The Church of God in Jamaica is a congregational polity affiliated with the evangelical Methodist "Holiness" movement.
