
Chubu is a region in central Honshu, Japan, including Aichi, Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, Nagano, Niigata, Shizuoka, Toyama, and Yamanashi Prefecture. Located between the Kansai region in the west and the Kanto region in the east, it included the major city of Nagoya, parts of Japan's Pacific Ocean and Sea of Japan coastlines, extensive mountain resorts, and Mount Fuji. Its population rose from 10,702,000 in 1920 to 16,565,000 in 1960 and 22,078,654 in 2020.
