Christy Smith

Christy Smith (15 May 1969-) was a Democratic member of the California State Assembly from the 38th district from 3 December 2018, succeeding Dante Acosta.

Biography[]

Christy Fisher was born in Wurzburg, West Germany on 15 May 1969 to an American military family, and her family settled in Fortville, Indiana when she was six months old. The family then moved to Terre Haute before settling in the Santa Clarita Valley in 1979. She worked for Bill Clinton's Department of Education as a policy analyst and then served two terms on the Newhall School District, and she was elected to the State Assembly in 2018. In 2020, she ran for the US House of Representatives to fill Katie Hill's vacant seat in a special election, but, on 12 May 2020, she lost to Republican candidate Mike Garcia in a 44% to 56% defeat.
