Christopher Roehr (24 July 1863 – 8 May 1937) was a Lieutenant-General of the Imperial German Army of the German Empire during World War I.
Biography[]
Christopher Roehr was born on 24 July 1863 in Stuttgart, Wurttemberg, and he joined the Imperial German Army in 1877, attending a military academy in the German capital of Berlin. Roehr graduated from the academy in 1883 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant, and Roehr was sent to a battalion that was stationed in Munich. Roehr would rise to the rank of Colonel in 1897 and Brigadier-General in 1905, and he would finally make the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1913. Roehr commanded an army of German troops on the Italian Front of World War I, and his army was victorious at the Battle of Montebelluna in 1917, where an Italian army was mauled. At the end of the war, he was forced to surrender his army to Italian troops, and he was released in 1918. Roehr died in Ulm, Bavaria in 1937.
