
Christopher Harris Williams (18 December 1798-27 November 1857) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-TN 13) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1843 (succeeding William C. Dunlap) and from TN-11 from 4 March 1849 to 3 March 1853 (succeeding William T. Haskell).
Biography[]
Christopher Harris Williams was born in Hillsborough, North Carolina in 1798, and he became a lawyer in 1820. Williams settled in Lexington, Tennessee and served in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1843 and from 1849 to 1853. He died in 1857, and his son was killed while fighting for the Confederacy at the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. His grandson John Sharp Williams followed him into politics.
