Christian Emmanuel Sanon was a Haitian-American doctor who ordered the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moise in a failed attempt to seize power for himself amid the 2018 Haitian protests. On 7 July 2021, Moise was assassinated at his residence by 26 Colombian and 2 Haitian-American mercenaries hired by Sanon, and Sanon was arrested on 12 July after the captured mercenaries gave him up. During a raid on his home, the police found vast supplies for a coup, as well as DEA hats.
