The Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland (CVP) is a Christian democratic political party in Switzerland that was founded in 1912. The CVP succeeded the Catholic Conservative Party, and it supported a social market economy (supporting exporting industries, increased spending on education, research, and development, low taxation for family enterprises, and equal wages and job opportunities for both men and women), flexible working times, childcare, and affordable housing, and social security. The CVP became the largest party in Catholic southern and central Switzerland.
