Chremon the Efficient

Chremon the Efficient (died 429 BC) was a Greek mercenary during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography[]

Chremon was a well-known Greek mercenary who was nicknamed "the Efficient" after it was rumored that he had killed three men with one arrow; while he became an envied archer as the result of the rumor, he always claimed that he had somewhere to be whenever he was asked to repeat his feat.

In 429 BC, the Hephaistos Islands ruler and Cult of Kosmos member Iobates the Stoic reached out to Chremon, having admired his spotless work. He sent a letter to Chremon and asked him to come to Lemnos to work for him, but, that same year, Polemon of Kirrha hired Chremon to track down and kill the mercenary Kassandra. Chremon searched for her at the Leader House in Kirrha, where she had just assassinated Polemon. Although Polemon's death wiped out the bounty, Chremon continued searching for Kassandra, and Kassandra ambushed and assassinated him. She found Iobates' letter on Chremon's body, identifying Iobates as a Cultist.
