The Chinese are a cultural group that live mostly in China, with minorities in Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and other nearby countries. While there is no Chinese ethnicity - there are 56 recognized ethnic groups in mainland China - the Chinese people have been nationally united, with the writing system and language being shared by most Chinese. The largest ethnic group in China are the Han Chinese.
