Otomo crest
Chikataka Tawara was a general of the Otomo clan. He fought in the Battle of Mimigawa in December 1578 against the Shimazu clan, where he was defeated, and joined the Western Army at the Battle of Ishigaki Plains in the Sekigahara Campaign.
