Chief Yanchege of Kyzyl (1048-) was the chief of Kyzyl under the Liao dynasty.
Biography[]
Yanchege was born in 1048 to a lowborn family of Buddhist Khitans, and he became a courtier of the Liao dynasty under Emperor Daozong of Liao. On 5 May 1073, Emperor Daozong enfeoffed Yanchege with the Chiefdom of Kyzyl (present-day Tuva Oblast, Russian Far East, Russia), and the House of Yanchege became a noble family. He was appointed as the Cupbearer of the Liao dynasty, an honorable title that showed that the emperor trusted him.
