Chief Scar

Chief Scar (died 1873), also called Cicatriz, was the war chief of the Nawyecka Comanche during the Texas-Indian Wars of the late 19th century. In 1868, he led a war party into West Texas and carried out the Edwards Farm massacre, after which he raped and murdered Lucy Edwards and made her older sister Debbie one of his wives. Scar was hunted by the Texas Rangers, the US Army, and by Lucy and Debbie's uncle Ethan Edwards, who met Scar face-to-face in the New Mexico Territory in 1873 after Emilio Gabriel Fernández y Figueroa was paid to introduce them. Edwards nearly killed Debbie on finding that she had become a Comanche, but a fight with Scar ensued, forcing Edwards and his cousin Martin Pawley to flee. Edwards and Pawley would later have their revenge at the Battle of Seven Fingers, at which Pawley rescued Debbie from her tent and shot Scar dead when he tried to intercede. Edwards scalped Scar to make up for his murder of his family.
