
Chen Dongbao (died 1645) was a captain of the Qing Dynasty. He was a leader of the Yangzhou Massacre, in which he died.
Biography[]
Chen Dongbao was a captain of the Qing Dynasty's military during the invasion of China, and became a member of the Templar Order under Wu Sangui. As one of his right-hand men, he was a brutal enforcer of the Templars and Wu. In 1645, Chen was sent to slaughter the people of Yangzhou to deliver a lesson to people who opposed the Templars. He managed to kill the Assassin Order mentor Ma Jianling in the massacre, among 800,000 others, but his enraged son Ma Jianguo confronted Chen at the ruins of his old home. Chen, wielding a battleaxe, was disarmed by Ma and hacked to death with the axe as Chen laughed at Ma's anger.
