Chellie Pingree (2 April 1955-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-ME 1) from 3 January 2009, succeeding Tom Allen.
Biography[]
Chellie Pingree was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1955, and she started her own cottage industry during the 1980s. She served in the Maine State Senate from 1992 to 2000, and she was against going to war with Iraq. In 2002, she was defeated in her attempt to run for the US Senate as a Democratic Party member, with the moderate incumbent Susan Collins winning re-election. In 2008, she was elected to the US House of Representatives.
