Biography[]
Chele Chiavacci Farley was born in New York to a family of Italian descent, and she became a partner and managing director of Mistral Capital International, a Manhattan private equity firm. She served as finance chair for the State Republican Committee, and, in 2018, she announced her intention to run for the US Senate against Democratic Party incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand. Chiavacci Farley claimed that Gillibrand had abandoned her moderate roots and moved as far left as possible to advance her national political ambitions, vowing to end the grandstanding and political opportunism in her state. She also promised to ensure that more of New York's tax money sent to Washington DC would return to the state in the form of federal funding. Chiavacci Farley won the Republican primary to become the party's nominee. In June 2018, she was predicted to lose with 28% of the vote in the strongly-Democratic state, and she ultimately lost.
