Chauncey Goodrich (20 October 1759 – 18 August 1815) was a member of the US House of Representatives from Connecticut's at-large district from 4 March 1795 to 3 March 1801, succeeding Amasa Learned and preceding Elias Perkins, and a US Senator from 25 October 1807 to 13 May 1813, succeeding Uriah Tracy and preceding David Daggett. He was a member of the Federalist Party.
Biography[]
Chauncey Goodrich was born in Durham, Connecticut in 1759, the brother of Elizur Goodrich, and he taught at Yale from 1779 to 1781. He became a lawyer in 1781, and he served in the State House of Representatives from 1793 to 1794, when he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Federalist Party member, serving from 1795 to 1801. He served on the Governor's Council from 1802 to 1807, when he was elected to complete Uriah Tracy's term in the US Senate. He resigned in 1813 to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut, serving until his death in 1815.
