Charlie Crist

Charlie Crist (born 24 July 1956) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-FL 13) from 3 January 2017 to 3 January 2023 (succeeding David Jolly), having served as Governor of Florida from 2 January 2007 to 4 January 2011, succeeding Jeb Bush and preceding Rick Scott.

Biography[]

Charlie Crist was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1956, and he became a lawyer during the 1980s, moving to Florida. She served in the State Senate from 1992 to 1998, as Education Commissioner of Florida from 2001 to 2003, as Attorney General of Florida from 2003 to 2007, as Governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011, and as a member of the US House of Representatives in 2017. He was a Republican Party member until 2010, and he became a Democratic Party member in 2011; he supported capital punishment, came to support gay rights after years of opposing them, and supported Barack Obama in 2012 (having supported his rival John McCain in 2008). He retired in 2022 to run for Governor once again.
