Charles de Lannoy (1487-1527) was an Imperial general who was the victor of the Battle of Pavia in 1525.
Biography[]
From the Low Countries, de Lannoy was of Flemish origin. De Lannoy served Maximilian I of Germany and Charles V of Germany in the Italian Wars, mauling the French army at the Battle of Sesia in 1524 and proceeding to relieve the city of Pavia from a French siege a year later. At the Battle of Pavia his pike and shot defeated the superior French knights and army and captured King Francis I of France, ending the Four Years' War. He died in Naples in 1527.
