Charles de Gaulle Street Cairo

Charles de Gaulle Avenue is a major avenue in Giza, Egypt, running from the junction of Mourad and Dr. Bahi Ali al-Din Barakat Streets in the south to Majdan al-Dzala in the north. Named for the Free French leader Charles de Gaulle, who spent part of his World War II-era exile in Cairo and developed a great fondness for Egypt, the avenue is home to the Cairo Zoo, the Embassy of France, and several other embassies and major landmarks.
