Charles Solomon

Charles "King" Solomon (1884-24 January 1933) was a Jewish Mob boss who ruled over Boston, Massachusetts during Prohibition.

Biography[]

Charles Solomon was born in 1884 in the Russian Empire to a Jewish family, and he later resettled in Boston, Massachusetts as a boy. By his early 20s, he had been involved in fencing stolen goods and with prostitution, and he controlled the morphine and cocaine trade during the early 1920s. He served only thirteen months in prison during his lifetime, having been convicted of witness tampering. In 1927, he helped in the formation of the National Crime Syndicate in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and he controlled gambling in New England until 24 January 1933, when two rival gunmen killed him at the Cotton Club. Joseph Linsey and Hyman Abrams divided up his territory after his death.
