Charles Ryan (1875-1919) was an IRA member during the 1910s. In 1919, he was shot dead by undercover British policewoman Grace Burgess in Birmingham.
Biography[]
Keith Maguire was born in Ireland in 1884, and he and Keith Maguire became members of the Irish Republican Army during the Irish struggle for independence. They raised money for the IRA from among the Irish diaspora population in Birmingham, England, and they frequented The Black Swan Pub in Sparkbrook. In 1919, Ryan and Maguire visited Peaky Blinders boss Tommy Shelby at The Garrison Pub, where they told him that they would be willing to pay a large sum to acquire the large arms shipment stolen from the BSA Factory. However, undercover policewoman Grace Burgess tailed him to an alleyway and shot him with his own gun after he took hold of her and attempted to take her in for interrogation.
