Charles Rende (1927-1968) was a Marcano crime family associate and blackmailer employed by Frankie Bernard during the 1960s. In 1968, he met city councilman Gerard Granger at a Downtown New Orleans parking garage to collect blackmail money, but Lincoln Clay secretly tailed him. From a hiding place, Clay threw a grenade at Rende's car as Rende and Granger talked nearby, and the ensuing explosion killed Rende, Gerard, and Rende's henchmen.
