
Charles Murphey (9 May 1799-16 January 1861) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA 4) from 4 March 1851 to 3 March 1853, succeeding Hugh A. Haralson and preceding William B.W. Dent. Born in Anderson, South Carolina, he practiced law in Decatur, Georgia before serving in the state house from 1839 to 1841, in the state senate in 1842, 1845, 1849–1850, and 1855–56, and in Congress.
