Charles McVean (1802-22 December 1848) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 15) from 4 March 1833 to 3 March 1835, succeeding Michael Hoffman and preceding Matthias J. Bovee. Born in Johnstown, he practiced law before editing a newspaper in Canajoharie and serving in Congress, as district attorney of Montgomery County from 1836 to 1839, as surrogate of New York County from 1844 to 1848, and as US Attorney for the Southern District of New York in 1848.
