Biography[]

Charles Laveau was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to an African-American family, and he lived in the Delray Hollow district. Laveau was hired by Black Mob boss Sammy Robinson as a bartender at his bar, and Laveau was also involved with black militant movements in the city during the 1960s. Laveau and his daughter Roxy led the movement from a compound in Bayou Fantom to the south of the city, using the camp for training and planning. Laveau was also the host of "The Hollow Speaks", a radio show that was broadcast from his garage in Delray Hollow, speaking to his fellow African-Americans during the era of the Civil Rights movement. In 1968, Laveau supplied Lincoln Clay with information that allowed for him to take down Merle Jackson and his Dixie Mafia prostitution racket, and he assisted him during his crusade against the Marcano crime family and in his quest to take down corrupt Sinclair Parish sheriff Slim Beaumont, whom Laveau had been investigating for a year. He would be arrested soon after the death of Sal Marcano because of his radio show.
