Charles Jared Ingersoll

Charles Jared Ingersoll (3 October 1782-14 May 1862) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 1) from 4 March 1813 to 3 March 1815, from PA-3 from 4 March 1841 to 3 March 1843 (succeeding Charles Naylor and preceding John T. Smith), and from PA-4 from 4 March 1843 to 3 March 1849 (preceding John Robbins).

Biography[]

Charles Jared Ingersoll was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1782, the son of Continental Congress member Jared Ingersoll and the brother of congressman Joseph Reed Ingersoll. He became a lawyer in 1802 and served in the US House of Representatives from 1813 to 1815, as District Attorney for Philadelphia from 1815 to 1829, in the State House in 1830, and in the House from 1841 to 1849. He died in 1862.
