Charles H. Prince

Charles Henry Prince (9 May 1837-3 April 1912) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-GA 5) from 25 July 1868 to 3 March 1869, preceding Stephen A. Corker.

Biography[]

Charles Henry Prince was born in Buckfield, Maine in 1837, and he served as Postmaster in 1861 before serving as a Union Army captain during the American Civil War. In 1866, he settled in Augusta, Georgia, where he worked at a bank and as an abolitionist Protestant missionary before serving as a carpetbagger Republican member of the US House of Representatives from 1868 to 1869. He returned to Buckfield in 1882, and he served in the State Senate in 1901 and died in 1912.
