Charles Franklin Mitchell (18 February 1806-27 September 1865) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-NY 33) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1841, succeeding Gideon Hard and preceding Alfred Babcock.
Biography[]
Charles Franklin Mitchell was born in Middletown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1806, and he worked as a grain miller in Lockport, New York before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1841. He was convicted of forgery in 1841, but he was paroled during his one-year sentence due to ill health and was later pardoned. He later settled in Cincinnati, Ohio and Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and he became a Republican. He died in 1865.
