
Charles Elwood Brown (4 July 1834-22 May 1904) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-OH 2) from 4 March 1885 to 3 March 1889, succeeding Isaac M. Jordan and preceding John A. Caldwell. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he tutored in Baton Rouge and practiced law in Chillicothe before serving as a Union Army colonel during the American Civil War and losing his leg during the Atlanta campaign. He later served as postmaster of Chillicothe from 1866 to 1872 and in Congress.
