Charles Clinton Ellsworth (29 January 1824-25 June 1899) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MI 8) from 4 March 1877 to 3 March 1879, succeeding Nathan B. Bradley and preceding Roswell G. Horr.

Biography[]

Charles Clinton Ellsworth was born in Berkshire, Vermont in 1824, and he became a schoolteacher and lawyer in Howell, Michigan in 1848. He moved to Greenville in 1851 and served in the state house from 1852 to 1854, as Montcalm County prosecuting attorney from 1853 to 1857 (as a Democrat until 1854 and a Republican after the Kansas-Nebraska Act), as Paymaster of Volunteers in the Union Army during the American Civil War, and in the US House of Representatives from 1877 to 1879. He died in 1899.
