Charles Anderson was an American policeman from Muskegon, Michigan who, on 12 August 2019, became the center of controversy when it was discovered that he was an open Klan supporter. A whole wing of his house was dedicated to Confederate flags (even his placemats were Confederate flags), and he had a framed Ku Klux Klan application on his wall.
In August 2019, an African-American man named Robert Mathis, who was looking for houses in the area, toured Anderson's house and noticed Klan paraphernalia, and - concerned that a policeman was a Klan member - he notified the police that Anderson was a secret Klansman and a racist. He was placed on administrative leave as the police department reviewed a 2009 case in which Anderson shot and killed a fleeing African-American man, which was originally justified, but which was now being reviewed as a racial incident.
