Charing Cross Road is a street in central London, England. It was developed by the Metropolitan Board of Works after an 1877 Act of Parliament, and the Board spent £778,238 to demolish and rebuild several rows of buildings across London to make way for the new roads. It is now renowned for its specialist and second-hand bookshops, and it ends at Charing Cross to the south of Trafalgar Square.
