
Cesare Ame (18 November 1892 – 30 June 1983) was the Head of Intelligence of Fascist Italy.
Biography[]
Cesare Ame was born on 18 November 1892, and he joined the military intelligence of the Royal Italian Army during World War I. He won a bronze medal for valor, and in 1919 he entered the Ministry of Intelligence under Attilio Vigevano. In 1937 he was promoted to Colonel, and to Brigadier-General in 1942; Ame was appointed Benito Mussolini's head-of-intelligence on 20 September 1940. On 3 August 1943, after distrusting Nazi Germany while at a meeting with Admiral Wilhelm Canaris of the Kriegsmarine, Pietro Badoglio decided to remove him on 18 August. He was sent to command the military division in Ljubljana while Giacomo Carboni took over intelligence, and he died in Rome in 1983 due to circulatory disturbances.
