Cesar Romero

Cesar Romero (15 February 1907-1 January 1994) was an American actor and musician from New York City. His mother was said to have been the illegitimate daughter of the Cuban national poet Jose Marti, while his father was a Spanish import/export merchant from Barcelona. He was raised in Bradley Beach, New Jersey and went to Asbury Park High School, and he served in the US Coast Guard in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He also became an actor, routinely playing "Latin lovers" from the 1930s to 1950s, and he also starred in the Batman television series as "the Joker". Romero was an active Republican, endorsing presidential candidate Richard Nixon in 1960, California US Senate candidate George Murphy in 1964, and presidential candidate Ronald Reagan in 1968, 1976, 1980, and 1984. He died of a blood clot in 1994 in Santa Monica at the age of 86.
