
The Centenary United Methodist Church is a Methodist church in Richmond, Virginia, located on 411 East Grace Street. The original congregation was founded at Shockoe Bottom in 1799, and, in 1839, the congregation decided to build a new church to commemorate Methodism's centennial. In June 1843, the current church was founded, and the first floor of the church was used as an emergency hospital during the American Civil War. During the 20th century, it became the heart of Downtown Richmond, and it helped to start 5 churches.
