The Celtici were a Celtic tribe in the Iberian Peninsula which inhabited southern Portugal and western Spain. The Celtici were an admixture of the Vaccaei and early Arevaci Celtiberians, and they submitted to Carthaginian rule just prior to the Second Punic War. They recovered their independence in 206 BC, and they were subdued by the Roman Republic in 179 BC.
