Catherine Durant (born 1959) was the Secretary of State of the United States from 2013.
Biography[]
Catherine "Cathy" Durant was born in 1959 in Missouri, United States, and she was a member of the US Democratic Party. She served as a senator from Missouri for several years, and she became an ally of House Majority Whip Frank Underwood. In 2012 she opposed Governor Garrett Walker of Colorado in the Democratic primaries during the 2012 presidential elections, but Walker beat her and won the presidency in 2013. Durant was a key ally of congressman Frank Underwood from South Carolina, and when Underwood had his ally Zoe Barnes of the Washington Herald publish a damaging article about nominated Secretary of State Michael Kern, Kern fell from power; Underwood then had Barnes begin allegations that Durant would be the new nominee. The news ruined Kern and spread rumors that Durant would be the new Secretary of State, a plan that succeeded, giving Underwood more power.
