Cary Allen (1835-1880) was a British Army deserter who served under Major Ashley Pitt during the Australian frontier wars. In 1880, he and Morton Philpot deserted the Army and attempted to seek refuge at Elliott Marston's Marston Waters ranch in Western Australia, where they offered their services to Marston as loyal ranch hands and replacements for his "convict scum". However, Marston informed the two men that he already had an arrangement with Major Pitt, who intended to hang the two men, and he offered to unbind them and shoot them instead. When the two deserters attempted to escape, Marston killed them both with a quick draw of his Colt 1860 Army revolver.
