Carwyn Rodrick

Carwyn Rodrick (died 1864) was an Irish-American gang leader in the Five Points section of Manhattan, New York City. He was rivals with NYPD detective Kevin Corcoran, who had previously incarcerated him, and, in 1864, he came up against Corcoran again when he and his gang planned to rob a Union Army benefit gala at Norbert Morehouse's residence. Finding the home too well-guarded, Rodrick promised Smiling Hugh O'Connell 50% of the score if he would ambush Corcoran as he left the gala with the money. Corcoran left behind the money box in exchange for his life, but, when O'Connell found the box to be empty, he blamed Rodrick for the hoodwink and stabbed him dead; Robert Morehouse had stashed the money in his wooden leg.
