The Carter Apartments was a public housing complex in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City. The apartments were taken over by the Cash Money Brothers gang of Nino Brown in 1986, with the CMB expelling all of the apartments' tenants, forcing the landlord out of the complex naked, and killing rival Fat Smitty. The apartments became a crack den for the CMB gang, with guards being posted around the complex, offices being installed, and the top floor being nicknamed "the Enterprise", where customers would do crack (which would "take them to another planet", like the spaceship USS Enterprise in Star Trek). In 1990, the building was stormed by the NYPD after informant Pookie Robinson was killed, and the gang attempted to burn it down and blow it up. The gang's leaders managed to escape after a shootout that left dozens of cops and gangsters dead.
