Carolina Goic Borojevic (20 December 1972-) was President of the Christian Democratic Party of Chile from 2 April 2016 to 20 November 2017, succeeding Jorge Pizarro Soto and preceding Fuad Chahin.
Biography[]
Carolina Goic Borojevic was born in Puerto Natales, Chile on 20 December 1972, the granddaughter of Croatian immigrants and the niece of Bishop of Rancagua Alejandro Goic. She graduated from the Catholic University of Chile as a social worker before becoming involved with the Christian Democratic Party of Chile. She served as a PDC deputy from 2006 to 2014 before serving as President of the PDC from 2016 to 2017. In 2017, she lost the presidential election with 5.88% of the vote, and her party also fared poorly in the parliamentary elections; as a result, she resigned.
