Carmine Rosato (1919-1959) was a Corleone crime family soldato and the brother of Tony Rosato. In 1958, Carmine and Tony Rosato formed their own rogue factions of the Corleone family after their boss Frank Pentangeli welched on his predecessor Peter Clemenza's promise to grant the Rosato brothers control of three territories in The Bronx. The Rosatos went to war with the Corleones and even attempted to kill Pentangeli, but the brothers and their rogue families were eliminated by Trapani crime family boss Dominic Corleone in 1959.
Biography[]

Rosato speaking with Frank Pentangeli
Carmine Rosato was born in The Bronx section of New York City, New York in 1919, the brother of Tony. Carmine was involved with crime from his early twenties, when he worked for Giuseppe Mariposa and became involved with the drugs and prostitution under Mariposa. After Mariposa's death, the two brothers came to work for the Corleone crime family, becoming soldiers in Peter Clemenza's crew. During the 1950s, Clemenza promised three territories in The Bronx to the Rosato brothers, but, following Clemenza's death, his successor Frank Pentangeli (who believed that the Rosatos had murdered Clemenza) welched on this promise. This led to the Rosatos taking hostages and attacking Pentangeli's regime, forming their own regimes. Michael Corleone refused to allow for Pentangeli to strike back at them, as he wanted to wait until his negotiations with Hyman Roth were finalized before striking back. Following the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Carmine Rosato took over New York City, while Tony took over parts of Miami.
Downfall[]

Rosato's execution
Carmine Rosato attempted to have Pentangeli murdered at a meeting at Richie's Tavern in Queens, but Pentangeli was saved by the intervention of a policeman. Rosato fled, and Willie Cicci was struck by a car before he could shoot Carmine. Rosato made sure to make it seem as if Corleone had ordered Pentangeli's death, leading to Pentangeli turning states against the Corleones. Michael's underboss Dominic Corleone was then sent to wipe out Carmine Rosato's family, taking over all of his family's businesses and executing his made men. Dominic then assaulted Rosato's compound, where Dominic executed Rosato with a shotgun. Dominic became the new boss of New York City as a Corleone ally, and Dominic would later proceed to eliminate Tony Rosato as well.
