
Carlstadt is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey. It was formed as a village on 12 March 1860 and named for Dr. Carl Klein, who led a group of early German settlers to establish the community. It became a borough on 27 July 1894, and it came to have a population of 6,191 in 2018, with 81.41% being white, 18.02% Hispanic, 8.23% Asian, and 2.38% African-American. During the 2016 presidential election, Republican Donald Trump won the town with 50.6% of the vote, with the Democrat Hillary Clinton garnering 45.1% and other candidates receiving 3.7%.
