
Carlos Sanz de Santamaria (23 April 1905-5 November 1992) was the Colombian Liberal Party Mayor of Bogota from August 1942 to 6 March 1944, succeeding Julio Pardo Davila and preceding Jorge Soto Del Corral.
Biography[]
Carlos Sanz de Santamaria was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1905, and he worked as a civil engineer before entering politics, specializing in aqueduct construction. He served as Mayor of Bogota from 1942 to 1944 before serving as Minister of National Economy from 1944 to 1945, Finance Minister in 1945 and from 1962 to 1964, Ambassador to the United States from 1945 to 1946 and from 1960 to 1962, Minister of War from 1946 to 1947, Foreign Minister from 1957 to 1958, as Ambassador to the United Nations from 1982 to 1983. He died in 1992.
