Carlos Rendo

Carlos Rendo (born 1964) was Mayor of Woodcliff Lake (R) from 4 January 2016, succeeding Jeffrey Goldsmith.

Biography[]

Carlos Rendo was born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba in 1964, and he came to the United States at the age of two. He grew up in Union City, and he was registered to vote by long-time Hudson County Republican Party chairman Joe Arango. Rendo attended Rutgers University and Temple Law School for college, and he opened his own law practice in North Bergen. In 2000, he moved to Woodcliff Lake, and he became a council member in 2013. In 2015, he was elected Mayor, and Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno chose Rendo as her lieutenant-gubernatorial candidate for the 2017 gubernatorial election. However, their ticket won just 41.9% of the vote, losing to Democratic Party candidates Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver.
