
Carlos Jose Solorzano (17 January 1860-30 August 1936) was President of Nicaragua from 1 January 1925 to 14 March 1926, succeeding Bartolome Martinez and preceding Emiliano Chamorro.
Biography[]
Carlos Jose Solorzano was born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1860, and he came from a well-established family of politicians. He became a moderate member of the Conservative Party of Nicaragua, and he received US assistance in attaining power in 1926. The US Marine Corps withdrew following his election, believing that the situation was stable, but this allowed for Emiliano Chamorro to oust Solorzano in a coup.
