The Carlist Communion was a reactionary party in Spain that was founded in 1833, adhering to Carlism. The party supported ultra-Catholicism, anti-secularism, and aggressive nationalism, and it supported the establishment of an absolute monarchy led by the male line of the House of Bourbon, namely the descendants of Infante Carlos, Count of Molina. The Carlist Communion would lead uprisings against the Spanish government from 1833 to 1876, and the party would decide to support the fascist Falange during the Spanish Civil War. Francisco Franco incorporated the Carlist militias into the army of Nationalist Spain during the civil war, and the Carlists were disappointed when Franco became dictator instead of restoring the monarchy. The party continues to exist as the right wing of the Carlist movement, while the Carlist Party represents its left wing.
