Carl Hatch

Carl Atwood Hatch (27 November 1889-15 September 1963) was a Democratic US Senator from New Mexico from 10 October 1933 to 3 January 1949, succeeding Sam G. Bratton and preceding Clinton Presba Anderson.

Biography[]

Carl Hatch was born in Kirwin, Phillips County, Kansas, and he practiced law in El Dorado, Oklahoma from 1912 to 1916. He moved to Clovis, New Mexico in 1916, and he served as an assistant attorney general from 1917 to 1918, as collector of internal revenue from 1919 to 1922, as a state district court judge from 1923 to 1929, on the state board of bar examiners from 1930 to 1933, in the US Senate from 1933 to 1949, and as a federal district court judge from 1949 until his death in 1963.
