Carl Hanratty (20 September 1919 - 4 August 2005) was an American law official who served as special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In the mid to late 1960s, Hanratty worked with the bureau's Financial Crimes Unit to investigate the felonies of Frank Abagnale. In December 1967, Hanratty tracked Abagnale to the town of Montrichard in France where he was apprehended by French police and extradited to the United States to stand trial.
